Greetings from Luxembourg. I Introduced myself last autumn. We are soon to put our house on the market here in Luxembourg and hope to be over in the Cirencester area by Decemberish time. We have 5 caches here in Lux. Lately, our caches have gone missing and we are now getting very peeved about it. We have 2 caches in our village and 3 out in some woods nearby. We have made an effort on some of the caches not to place traditional containers. Example - fake bubblegum, snail and a magnetic screw. Bubblegum has gone twice now. And we don't think muggles are taking them...any thoughts on this? Anyone else experience this problem?
Keep us up to date with how your moving plans progress. We'll have to have a welcome to Cirencester caching event once you get here
Regarding your missing caches.. have you seen any new caches published in your area that are using the same containers? I would think that someone who is taking yours would not use them and hide them again near by to you, but it is worth keeping an eye on. Or check ebay to see if anyone in your country is selling those type of containers?
Are they premium member caches? If they are have you looked at the audit logs to see who is looking at your caches? Maybe may give some clues.
Thanks for the suggestions. We haven't come across any caches like ours but we live next to 3 other countries and everyone cross borders to cache here. Always a lot of fun doing that as well. So we have resorted to using standard cache containers once again
We would love to meet fellow cachers! We did some caching when we were over last autumn but couldn't do the one at the swimming pool as I recall..
Happy caching. To look at our caches on geocaching.com just look for Luxembourg and our name is Luxexpat an if anyone is in the area do contact us.
Ah.. the swimming pool one, that would be Michael over and out I would guess. I was second to find that one, just had the FTF stolen from me by walktall
That cache has had a lot of DNFs recently. It's possible it has been washed away, but although part of the town very near to there has flooded a couple of time over last two winters, I don't remember the water being that high at the river by the pool. I'll take a look when I can.
A semi-secret bit of information about that cache location which the CO has not noted on the cache page, maybe they don't know, or it doesn't interest them, but it does me... the grill that covers the water going into the darkness beyond that little bridge where the cache is hidden under, if you are able to lift it and enter the darkness you can wander the river system of tunnels under the town out into the Abbey Grounds. I researched this last year. I took a look at small section of it from the Abbey Grounds end, I didn't like it. More detail can be found in my blog entry HERE.
It's not fun having containers muggled, or deliberately taken. Luckily, although there has been odd instances of it over here in our area, we haven't had much trouble really. I hope you don't have any more taken. I'll take a look at your caching area when I am home later tonight.

Tee hee
Hi pippingreen, as Gackt says, let us know when you are over and we can have a get together
I've had one cache several miles away from houses but kept going missing even though I kept changing how it was hidden, so have moved it and used a standard container, which now has been OK for some time. This has been an odd one, as I know the farmer there, if they find one of my caches they may move it a little while they are doing work by the cache but I find it and move it to another location close by. It's a long way for muggles to find it by chance, so a bit stumped why this one cache in a series kept going missing
Thanks for the replies regarding missing cache containers. We have archived 2 of our caches in Luxembourg. It is a bit annoying and has put us off placing anymore which is a shame.,,
We are currently at The Fleece hotel but leave this evening for Guildford for a family party then back to Lux. Looking at houses now. Not a lot out there - either too big of too small or garden too big, etc.
Wanted to do some caching but no time today. We hope to try out the local golf club later this afternoon.
I saw that you recently had a meet up and hope it was well attended. We are looking forward to one in the future.
Wish I saw this a bit earlier, I could of walked into town on my lunch break maybe and met up. You'll have to let us know before you come this way next time and we can arrange something. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
