That's daft , the whole point is it's a sudden gathering and no sooner gathered, then people leave. It's all in the name 'Flash'
And GS bought in the 'rule' against Event Stacking, so you couldn't have a Flash Mob, followed by an Event afterwards in a near by pub/restaurant/park/McD's...
A flash mob (or flashmob)[1] is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, before quickly dispersing. They are often used for the purposes of entertainment, satire or artistic expression...

Never felt the need to do that. We just go to the pub afterwards for a drink

Well all I can do is add my feelings - Flash means, (well) Flash! 30 minutes is stupid. Okay - folk often "linger" but the joy of a Flash Mob is it's - quick fun!!

Yes!
My only guess is that some sort of new event cache type is coming? Flash mobs are now too common to basically ban.
Perhaps the new type will launch ahead of the WWFM?
A new geocache icon just for flash mob events, with a 15 minutes minimum time stamp would sort this out, maybe? But I can't see Groundspeak launching that, for they would of done so years ago if they were going to.
Flash mob cache page writing will just need a little more work. E.g... "Flash mob at such and such a place from 10am to 10:15am. At 10:15 we will all disappear into the nearby pub for a chat for 15mins." ..or something.
The ridiculousness of the situation is that anyone who attends only needs to for a few seconds anyway to say they have attended, they don't need to stay for the duration however long their guidelines say, because you can't make everyone stay for the whole thing. And as many of you know...
Any Event Cache (including Mega, Giga and CITO Events) can be logged online if the geocacher has attended the event. Event Cache owners can request that cachers sign a logbook, but this is optional and cannot be a requirement for logging an Event Cache.
No events now need to have a log book. So unless you take a video of your whole event and everyone is wearing name badges, almost anyone can say they have been to an event even if they haven't and log it. They don't even need to attend that flash mob for a second. All very silly.

Edit: Griff Grof got a post in whilst I was waffling Let's hope for new cache type then.. but I feel that we won't. Let's hope I am wrong.
As many of you know, Geocaching.com has made changes to their event guidelines (Feb 2015) so that now all events must last a minimum of 30 minutes.
Here is what we suggest for the WWFM events:
You can meet early at a certain location, and make plans together for the "Flash Mob" portion of the event at a nearby location, and then meet again at the first location after the flash mob is over.
Another idea is to start the event with the "Flash Mob", and then have everyone meet at a second location to continue socializing. The event host must be present for 30 minutes, but you can also have a longer event.
The fun of the "Flash Mob" part is to do something unique, different, entertaining, unusual, etc. so that people (muggles) nearby are surprised or amused! It works best to keep this portion short.
And these were the rules:
If you are interested in hosting a WWFM event in your area, check out these resources, tips and tools!
Basic Requirements:
Hold your event on the official, announced day, at the official time (for an exception, please contact Sonny and Sandy at podcacher [at] gmail [dot] com)
The event should last only 15 minutes (but you can always gather informally afterwards for geocaching!)
UPDATE: Due to changes in Geocaching.com event guidelines (Feb 2015), all events must last a minimum of 30 minutes. You have several options. You can meet early at a certain location, and make plans together for the "Flash Mob" portion of the event at a nearby location, and then meet again at the first location after the flash mob is over.
