Birthday Beer Below Box
Event Date: 24 Jan 15
This is a simple get together to celebrate my Birthday. There will be no raffles, no FTF prizes, no quizzes etc. Boring, huh? I don’t feel so, for this event it is all about location, location, location, and beer.
I do not intend to hide further caches to coincide with this event. I might, but more than likely will not. The area has an abundance of top quality high terrain caches already in situ of the like that I would find it very hard to match. This is a good opportunity though to group together with others to maybe tackle some of these existing ones. A number of caches in the area have been awarded Amberel Top Cache Awards.
The Location
The event is being held in an impressive 100ft high underground cavern called Cathedral, man made from the quarrying of Bath Stone from 1830 - 1850. The published coordinates are of its approximate location. DO NOT attempt to go the coordinates above ground as that will take you to private property and you will have no way of access to the event location there. If you have not been to this location before you will need to research the underground quarry where Cathedral is to be found, the entrance locations, obtain a map, obtain a gate key, and plot your underground route.
That said, I do not intend this to be a high difficulty rating cache event. High terrain level yes, but not difficulty. I am not going to give to you the above on a golden platter, but will offer you a couple of suggestions if you are not able to locate the info you need:
1. You could look at some of the opencaching.org.uk caches in the vicinity of the event and solve the online puzzles or some of the Geocaching.com Below Above series of caches. This way you could then possibly include this event in a full day of high terrain caches as you search out the puzzle caches you have solved with other attending cachers.
2. If all else fails on your researching and you still really would like to attend this event, contact me and you could accompany myself or a one of my friends to the event location (as long as the group is within the party limits described below).
The quoted % Off Trail Climbing / Scrambling of 50% is the bare minimum to expect if you park in the vicinity of the most local public house and take the most direct route from there to the event GZ.
The mental challenge time I have tried to take in to consideration the time to research, and the navigation of the underground passages to and from Cathedral, though this will depend greatly on the knowledge you may already have of the area.
Parking - I will update the cache event page about parking a bit closer to the time.

Further information including safety info on the TC event page.
The event is published. It will not be cross listed on gc.com. If anyone decides to do something long side it on gc.com please let me know as head count will effect access.
