In the "My first hosted official event - discussion" thread ideas were exchanged about a series of Cotswold events. Thought it might be good to have a separate thread to talk about them now
A summery of the idea:
A monthly, bi-monthly or just regular events roving around the Cotswolds, moving to a different location each time, at the host members local venue of choice. They would generally be simple afternoon/evening events, just putting faces to names etc, and it's been suggested that there could be difficult puzzles to solve at each one, which could be contentious. Also, at each event (unless a rare circumstance), a new cache would be published. This would give cachers another reason to attend the events. Eventually a "Cotswold Caching" series would build up, and it could become competitive; as to who has found the most of the caches.
Any more comments to that format (I've added those from the other thread in ) And when would be a wise time for a debut event of this format?
Thank you for starting this thread. I had a mail from someone who came to my event on Saturday asking if I would be doing more. I am up for this.
Work consumes a lot of my life, and my family almost the rest of it, and so I do not have a lot of time for planning such things. And so for that reason I would not want to do monthly, it would get too stressful for me to do in the little time I have, and caching is something I do to try and relieve stress. Quarterly would be feasible, and I guess I could stretch to bi-monthly.
As for a date for the first one, really I suppose something like mid April at the earliest? I say this to give a couple of months at least to organise, to have a bit of time after your next CacheWalker event, and also the last week of March I will not be local.
I thought mid April would be good, or at least the earliest, but then I just remembered we here and on CacheWalker had started to talk about a possible cito, which would be around the same time. A date will need a bit more thought.
