I was glad to hear that there are still plenty of people around who love doing them as much as me!
I remember the old FB group for BA, and good group on here who enjoy the BA series.
So how long have you been caching for?
I was on the BA group, shame it got closed really, and I've been caching for a coupleof years? Not many findslogged though as I mostly went with a friend/only signed logbooks and went for interesting ones more than general ones.
Greetings from Luxembourg, We are a Brit and an American who will be moving to the cirencester area in about a year when my husband retires at last! We have lived in Lux for 14 years and still can't really speak french never mind Luxembourgish. Before that 15 years in England lastly from Sevenoaks. We started geocaching here in lux a couple of years ago. They are prolific cachers here with really ingenious puzzle caches and cache containers. We have 5 out there but 2 disabled at the moment due to local construction work. They are really crazy about tree climbing caches also which is a tad frustrating:) also their cache descriptions are in Luxembourgish (understandable but...) and that is tough because there isn't a google translator for that language. Anyway, many people think we are a bit nuts here but those that we met caching understand the appeal of this activity so we are looking for a few like minded cachers in the Cotswolds that we can meet up with for a walk, chat, etc. is there some sort of group in the Cirencester area that meet up on occasion?
We are under Luxexpat on the geocaching site. Now we just need to find a house! Merry Christmas! Pippingreen
You've found the right place! You couldn't get any more local for Cirencester for a forum than this one, as I live in the town and so do a number of other cachers who are members here.
We don't have regular meetups like some of the cachers of other nearby towns do like in Swindon, but there are a few local events during the year by various local cachers including myself who has held a few. I could really do with pulling my finger out, so to speak, and organising some regular little get togethers (note to everyone, however busy I may say I am.. poke me to do that, unless someone else wants to take the lead). Take a look at CacheWalker as well who put on some good events around the area.
We have a few tree climbing caches around the area too. It's not my thing. Heights combined with what I am holding onto swaying in the breeze does not do it for me We do a have a good selection of caches not far from Ciren that take you the opposite direction of those tree tops.. deep down under the ground, something to consider maybe?
Do check back in here and talk to us, especially when you are on the way here. Cirencester is not without it's faults, but I have lived here much of my life without longing to be elsewhere so it can't be all bad
