RAF Chedworth
Hidden: 06.08.17
Type: Cross cache hosting site Multi
RAF Chedworth opened in 1942 as a satellite station to nearby Aston Down. It was used as a temporary home to several USAF units during WWII. The airfield remains and over recent years has been used for motorcycle training and by model aircraft groups. The buildings in the surrounding woods however, although have been used by groups including the scouts up to the 1980's, are now falling into disrepair and are being forgotten.
At the point of hiding this cache, there were three caches hidden in the same section of woods. One on opencaching.org.uk, one on gpsgames.org, and one on terracaching.com. There are also traditional, mystery, and multi caches hidden on geocaching.com within a couple of miles of the wood.
The coordinates for this final are hidden inside my terracaching cache TC2VGP. Depending on your chosen route to GZ, the walk to the final from the TC can take you past a couple more building remains, and a couple of air raid shelters which are still structurally sound enough to go down into.

This cache was hidden as part of a semi-spontaneous (1 day notice of listing) event hosted on geocaching.com.au. I originally wanted to host this cache on navicache.com, to add even more diversity to the cache hosting selection, but after numerous attempts, and failing to make the submission form work, I gave up. As there is still a container out there to be found, and there is always the possibility that someone else may want to have a stab at the TC Cyber Perfect Geocaching Day, I have posted it here.
If posting a 'find' comment, please could you start your post with the word 'FIND' so that it is clear to me, and others, you have made a find. Thank you. If by chance you chase down FTFs on other listing sites other than GC.com, do please be aware that this did receive a find on the day.
