Chill Out Cotswold Caching Outing
(edited post to put link link to geocaching event page)
May rushed upon me, and will be over before I know it. Luckily Pir8sOld&New are holding one nearby this month. I am not going to let June escape me too.
My second event will be held on Saturday 22nd June. I have not put in to be published yet, but it will in the next day or two.
Where:
The Baker’s Arms
Somerford Keynes nr Cirencester
Date and time:
Saturday 22nd June 12pm – 9pm
The pub serves food during those times on a Saturday. It can get very busy though, so there may be a wait.
I will be there with the log book for the full duration for those that just want to pop by for a quick hello. For those that would like to meet and converse with a few more cachers than just myself I would suggest to arrive from early to mid afternoon to avoid the midday lunch rush of locals.
The pub can get quite busy on Saturdays and have limited parking for patrons. They have asked that if you intend to go off out and about caching that you do not leave vehicles in their car park. If the car park is full, there should be room to park on the road through the village, but please be considerate of residents. There is also a large free car park less than a mile away at Neigh Bridge Country Park Lake (see map in image gallery).
Whether you plan to go caching mad this weekend, are after an event icon, or just want to sit and relax and meet a few others cachers, it would be great to see you pop by.

A simple relaxed meet and greet on one of the longest days of the year.
The Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, falls on Friday 21st June. The days around it then are an excellent opportunity for those number hungry cachers to get out there and search to their hearts content without the need for a torch.

I am in two minds whether to put the Cotswold Caching name to this one. A few reasons. One, I am not sure how many members here would be able to attend, as I know there are talks of mad caching sprees that may take place elsewhere out of the area around that time. Two, although the location is in the area of the Cotswold Water park, for some of us purists the actual location does not fall within the official Cotswold boundaries. Three, although I intend to place a few caches to be published on or just before the date of the event nearby, other than that I am not going 'all out' to put something together spectacular, this will be a very relaxed 'meet and greet'.
I have have granted permission today to place caches in Neigh Bridge Country Park, which is great news. I know there is one there already, and there was another until recently, but they have just been along public right of ways. I have the whole area to play with now not just those paths
Any ideas for a name for the event welcomed. If I should put the CC name on it, and on one of the caches that will be hidden nearby, I would be happy to hear input.
All I want from the event is a nice relaxed day, nothing complex. A few drinks, on hopefully a nice sunny day (well I can hope), and a bit of caching talk.
