24 letters, 24 caches, 24 hours
Your mission...
In the space of 24 hours find up to 24 caches. Easy? Possibly. But there is a twist. Each cache you find will be awarded points. The winner will be the person who can gather the most points in a 24 hour period.
The points are assigned as follows:
Cache names with points awarded examples:
Ford Cortina = 6 points
The Bus Stop Bounty = 1 point
Weir View = 4 points
Anyone can take part in this game and even be in the running to win by finding and submitting just one cache, especially near the beginning of the game. However, there is an element of strategy and planning to maximize the points you could rake in. The maximum being 360 which would be obtainable by finding 24 caches whose names start with the letter Q.
Rules and how to play:
1. Find up to 24 caches in a 24 hour period. You can find more of course, but only 24 can be used for this game.
2. Only physical caches will count. No events, earth caches, virtuals, or other types of caches that do not have a physical container to find.
3. Caches on any listing sites count.
4. Caches found anywhere in the world count.
5. Only new finds count. No revisits on previously found caches.
6. Only physical find logs count. DNFs, notes, and other types of logs do not count.
7. You may enter as many times as you want before the game ends.
8. Post here your start and finish date and times along with the list of caches you want to use for points. No need to put links to them, but if they are not geocaching.com caches, please note where they are hosted so that when I check up I check the correct site. If you could tot up your points it would help me out too, but I will double check them.
9. The game has started now (3rd September) and will end at midnight on Saturday 7th December 2013. No finds before or after the start or finish will count.
As with some other caching challenges, there is an element of trust with those who take part. Yes you can cheat, especially with times and dates, but I hope anyone who goes for it will keep to the honour system.
Because I can't govern the game play tightly there's no physical prize for the winner of this game, it's "just for fun". But there will be a unique award icon displayed on the winners profile, and hopefully it will provide a little extra enticement to get outside caching.
Have fun!
