Numerous times, I consider it my duty as a Scout leader to be able to ' live off the land'. Probably wouldn't be any good at if I was really pushed, but can do an awesome camp burger. (No hedgehogs were harmed making the burgers)
It's for air flow, as once complete, you cover the home with soil/leave/twigs except for the entrance and the end of this pipe; other guides say use a hose pipe. It's going to end up in a corner of the garden that the dogs can't get to
I've yet to see a hedgehog of late, not seen one for quite a few years.. The last time I had seen loads was 2004, when me and another guy, while on night patrol on a base, (were on guard duty) we came across loads of them all rolled up outside a barrack accommodation block, which for some funny humour decided they needed to keep warm instead of in the freezing cold, so for some reason, opened a mate's window (who was also on guard with us, but back in the control building) in that barrack block and decided it would be funny, to fill his room with about 20 of them..
Lets just say the next night shift was amusing to say the least..
Awesome idea walktall. Be interested to hear if you get some come to stay in it.
And tarmacjohn, what kind of breed of the creature do you get up your neck of the woods! If you need such an item to fend off hedgehogs, what are deer and badgers like up there?!
