A big thank you for posting that map, and the link to the interactive one. I have not seen the interactive map previously. I would certainly like to hear what everybody would like to do for the "Guess the cache game", a definitive range or fuzzy?
But this is also a great help for the "The Cotswold Geocache of the Year 2012" thread. That particular thread and award I really would like to keep to the definitive range. I was actually a bit hazy in my mind as to whether some of the extreme caches I have done this year towards Bath were actually in the Cotswolds or not, but by this map I can see that a few of them are, and so I can safely nominate one or two to be voted on.
I think there has been some 'artistic' licence with the size+shape of the map
As you may have already seen, the map I posted is off the Cotswolds Conservation Board's web site, who look after the AONB and is a statutory body created as a result of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act (CROW) 2000.
They are currently updating the AONB management plan, which sets out their aims and objectives over a five year period. The current plan runs out in 2013.
A reviewer refused to publish one of my caches because the Magic Map showed it on an ancient burial ground, but the OS map didn't, and nor did the reference to the burial ground. They still refused, and said they had to follow Magic Map.
Can't see why they just can't use OS maps now that OS Getamap service is up, the maps are more accurate, have more detail and are more widely recognized! (and accepted!)

I'm coming in on this a little late. I think the area should be a little 'fuzzy'. I'd consider Dursley and Stroud to be on the edge of the Cotswolds, but they're both outside the AONB on the map at the top of this thread. Equally, shouldn't we say that if the Cotswold Way passes through somewhere then that's in the Cotswolds? I also think else on the edge of the hills should be in the the Cotswolds.
I have code that will tell you how far inside or outside of the boundary any given point is. I suggest if something's more than a kilometre outside, we say "not in the Cotswolds". If it's outside by less than a kilometre, and is being put forward for CGotY, we discuss it.

Kilometers or miles? I prefer measuring in miles for distance, and so do the road signs ;D
